Since 1983, more than 4,000 people in New Jersey with intellectual and developmental disabilities have organized themselves into self-advocacy groups. Today, there are more than 110 groups operating within the state that are dedicated to improving the quality of life of all people with disabilities. The Project works cooperatively with individuals and families, as well as service providers and others, to encourage their involvement in self-advocacy and assisting them to become a part of the statewide network.
